What WMS does Freight Direct use?
We use a cloud-based warehouse management system purpose-built for 3PL operators — one of the leading platforms used by 3PL providers across Australasia. It covers real-time multi-location inventory, e-commerce integrations, mobile barcode scanning, wave picking, built-in invoicing, and a 24/7 client portal.
Can we see our own inventory in real time?
Yes. Every client gets a dedicated portal login showing live stock levels across all locations, inbound receipts, outbound despatch records, and tracking numbers. Updated in real time as movements occur. No need to call us for a stock count.
What picking methods do you support?
Wave picking, zone picking, batch picking, and cluster picking. The right method depends on your order profile. High-volume single-SKU orders suit batch picking. Multi-SKU orders with carrier cut-offs are best handled by wave planning. We configure the optimal method for your operation profile.
How does cycle counting work and why is it better than an annual stocktake?
Cycle counting divides the warehouse into zones and counts each zone on a rolling schedule throughout the year — rather than shutting down for a full annual stocktake. High-velocity and high-value SKUs are counted most frequently. Variances are investigated immediately rather than discovered months later. The result is continuously maintained accuracy without operational disruption.
Do you support multi-location inventory across your NZ warehouses?
Yes. Our WMS manages inventory across Penrose, Drury, Wellington, and Christchurch in a single system. Stock across all locations is visible in a consolidated view, inter-location transfers are tracked with full audit trail, and replenishment rules can be set per SKU per location.
What e-commerce and accounting platforms do you integrate with?
Native integrations include Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, Amazon, and TradeMe for e-commerce. Xero and MYOB for accounting. StarShipIt for multi-carrier shipping and label printing. WiseGrid for transport management. For anything else, we support REST API and webhook integration with most modern platforms.
