Air Freight FAQs
What is the difference between express and standard air freight?
Express uses priority booking and direct routings for 24–48 hour transit. Standard is consolidated on scheduled freighter services at 3–5 days — significantly cheaper per kg. We recommend standard for most non-urgent shipments.
Can you ship dangerous goods by air from New Zealand?
Yes. We manage DG by air through specialist carrier partners with full IATA DGR compliance. Provide us with the UN number and SDS and we will advise on what is possible and handle everything.
How does air freight pricing work?
Air freight is charged on chargeable weight — the greater of actual weight and volumetric weight (L×W×H in cm ÷ 6000). We quote both and apply whichever is higher.
How long does air customs clearance take in New Zealand?
With pre-lodgement, most air import entries clear within 2–4 hours of landing. MPI adds 1–2 business days for regulated commodities. We pre-lodge all entries as standard.
